Sea
|

We hitchhiked to the Slovenian coast. In the meantime, we got dropped off at Vrhnika, where I saw this school
As the sun was slowly setting we took the rest of the trip via train
Woods
We arrived to Koper at night. There was this concert for the worst kind of Serbian music, all put together
Koper beach, the next morning. Not the most exciting place on earth.
We walked to Izola, a more touristy place. The water was a bit cool but not bad. There weren't many tourists, and it was mostly families and old couples
The port was filled with small boats
Sea gull
A couple taking pictures of themselves

Bled
|
|
We went to lake Bled during the weekend. This is Slovenia's most popular tourist spot, but for some reason I've never been there before. Anyway, it's really beautiful.
This is some castle on the mountain above the lake.
Boats
Swans
And even more boats. You can rent them out for an hour or pay a man to bring you over to the island
And in the middle of the lake, there's a tiny island with a church
Apparently you can arrange to get married there. The couple are transported to the island by boats, and the groom must carry the bride up the 90 steps so they can have good luck or something.
A duck standing on a rock and cleaning himself
Even more ducks, with the Alps in the background
The Alps
We've decided to take a 30 km walk to lake Bohinj. The path would take us through some beautiful scenery, like this village settled in the Alps
So we walked and walked for more than 3 hours, we noticed that it was getting cold but we thought that it's because of bad weather coming, until suddenly we saw SNOW on the road!
Later it turned out we took a wrong turn and walked more than 1 km upwards and reached the part of the mountain that you can see on the pictures that is covered with snow. We quickly hitched a ride and were lucky to have a car pull over in less than a minute, as a snow storm was already starting then. I never saw snow in May before.
The next day, we went the other direction and passed the Sava Dolinska river. It has the same color as Soča
We walked and walked until we found a bus station at Tržič, then went home. A very exhausting weekend.

Rome part II
|
|
This is Colona square, named so after this column
Electric candles. They look fake.
Here we can see some pope ordering around, while people are kneeling around him and even placing the cross down only to submit to his authority. At least that's my interpretation...
A nun was waiting patiently for more than 10 minutes for the mass to end, when she can ring the bell
We also saw some old cars
It was raining, so there were no lines in front of the Colosseum. This is me walking in the totally empty square
Colosseum by night
Some column by night
The Vittorio Emanuele monument by night
At the Vatican museum, we saw many interesting things... like this evil-looking boy
I've no idea what's going on here...
In the next room, the entire ceiling was painted with beautiful pictures
And then there's the Sistine chapel, where it's forbidden to take a picture of the ceiling, so this one was taken ina hurry...
Some pope
What a coincidence...
Another hallway with beautiful ceiling
Some cheap coins...
I liked the Egyptian and Roman section much better. Like this dogman or whatever they call it...
Some guy cut off some other guy's head
And this is that famous statue about some Troyan getting killed by snakes, can't remember the name now...
These faces are totally not weird
There were statues of almost all Roman emperors, at least from the first two centuries AD. I think Augustus' looked the most authoritative
Medusa! Don't look into her eyes!
Then the next day we went to Timisoara in Romania...

Rome part 1
|
|
From Venice we went to Rome. This is I think a view of the Vatican from the airplane
Everywhere in Rome you can see the Roman motto written out
Even on sewers
First we went to the Colosseum. We were told that, because of some holiday, all museums will be free for the day, so we thought we might get in here too, although technically not a museum.
It turned out we couldn't, so we went back in line to find some place that was actually free
The metro
Beggar leaning to the Vatican walls
Swiss guard
St.Peter's square
In the middle you can see the Egyptian obelisk described by Jack Chick
Vatican columns
Boyscouts singing and dancing
A fat boyscout
This fountain is pretty cool
The interior of St.Peter's basilica
People were waiting in line to touch this cross. I have no idea why
Apparently this statue is famous
In the Vatican museum (for which we had to pay entrance), there were many things that we weren't allowed to take pictures of, such as this golden cross:
Or this golden baby angel
At the exit from the basilica, there's this guy pointing at something
Later that day, we arrived to a random church near the Tiber. We actually found a museum nearby for which the entrance was free
Palm tree as seen from the Spanish stairs (if you see Photoshopped)
Some guy pretending to be a statue
Actual statues of angels at Vittorio Emanuele's monument
Di Trevi fountains, where people can usually bathe during summer. This time, we weren't even allowed to stand on a rock, the guards were quick to whistle because of it
We also saw Tamils protesting about the Tamil Tigers being declared a terrorist group, and also something about their genocide and the north of Sri Lanka belonging to them. Reminded me of Kosovo a lot, except in a reversed way.

Venice
|
|
I've been to Venice so here are some photos.
This is some angel hanging on a gate at the doge's palace
A canal
Most gondolas are docked at 8 AM when this picture was taken...
This is the Grand canal in the morning + some Photoshop effects
And this is the Grand canal at sunset, without any effects
A street lamp
Pigeons attacking a gullible woman
A seagull
View from the doge's prison
A white building
Windows
The big tower at the main square

Bread maker

I've bought a bread maker machine to save money on buying bread. In theory it will pay off in two months.
It takes 3,5 hours to make the bread
Here it is!
